Church Flowers/ Cleaning Rota
Contact: Anthea Smithers 01635 298 522
I shall shortly be drawing up the flower rota for All Saints, Hannington for 2010.
If you’ve not been on the rota and would like to join we would be delighted to include you.
You do not have to be creative or a ‘flower arranger’ – it involves providing a vase(s) or
arrangement(s) of flowers to go on the altar on just 2 Sundays a year.
(Also sweeping the aisle/carpet and making sure the pews are tidy.)
If you feel you would like to help, please do get in touch. Similarly, if you are already on the rota but do not wish to be in 2010 please let me know. Otherwise I shall assume you are happy to carry on.
Many thanks for your continued support.

Bellringing
The long drawn-out project to replace the old bell frame at All Saints, Hannington, is nearing completion. The work on the bell chamber, which needed reinforcing, and the sound chamber below, which will house the remains of the old bell frame, is complete.
The next stage is to remove the three existing bells to Matthew Higby’s works where the new steel frame is being built, and where they will be joined by the three additional bells: two new, which are currently being cast, and one second hand bell.
When this work is complete and the six bells are tuned to each other, the frame will be taken apart and bells and frame brought to Hannington and installed.
You will be pleased to hear that this last stage does not require the scaffolding which has been such an eyesore these last few weeks; this will be gone for good on Thursday, 30th April.
The plan is to have the bells in place and ready to be rung by late September or early October.
My reason for emailing round the parish, as well as bringing you up to date on the project, is to invite anyone in the area who would like try his or her hand at ringing a bell to let me know. I will be talking to our neighbouring churches with active bell ringers to help with the initial training of novices.
So will anyone interested please contact me, Robbie Maitland:-
