Since the wine society was first started in June 2005, we have had a variety of presenters who have talked and given us extremely interesting information about the vineyards, the grapes, the winemakers, the countries and bought along some excellent wines for us to taste which has given everyone a small insight into the very large world of wine.   We have also visited English vineyards and have learnt all about the making of champagne during our visit to the champagne houses in Reims.

You do not have to know anything about wine to come to our meetings, because that is what it is there for.   We learn in a relaxed friendly atmosphere and try wines that we may not have thought about buying ourselves because we didn’t know what it was like, and carried on buying the wine we always buy because we know it.

The people who are already members are a great friendly bunch, so you would not feel out of it if you came by yourself.   We have members from the village and also from Ecchinswell, Wolverton Common, Ramsdell, Hook, Basingstoke and Bracknell.   Word has got around!

We meet the 2nd Thursday of the month in the Function room of the Vine pub at 8 pm and  finish around 10 pm.   We usually taste 8 to 9 wines.   The presenters are experienced wine people.   The cost for each meeting is between £9 and £15 depending on the wines and the cost and expenses of the presenter.   The membership is £5 per year.

Why not come as a visitor one meeting and try us out for yourself?
Just let me know you wish to come
